Lieutenant Commander J.J. League – United States Coast Guard
Lieutenant Commander J.J. League is the National Technical Advisor at the Liquified Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise (LGC NCOE). LCDR League has served in a number of Coast Guard marine safety roles, most recently as the Supervisor in St. Thomas, the US Virgin Islands (USV), prior to that he served as a staff attorney at the Pacifica Area Command, Senior Marine Inspector & Marine Investigator at Activities Europe in the Netherlands; Supervisor of the Resident Inspections Office St. Croix, USVI; and Marine Inspector at Sector New Orleans. Before joining the Coast Guard in 2006, Lieutenant Commander League sailed as a commercial mariner for 10 years in the oil and gas industry working on DP offshore construction vessels and oil drilling.
Lieutenant Commander League has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law, a Master’s of Science from the National Graduate School, and a Bachelors in Marine Science from Texas A&M University at Galveston, Texas Maritime Academy in Galveston.
Lieutenant Commander League holds a USCG Masters Unlimited, Oceans license and is licensed to practice law in Oregon. His individual military awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and the Coast Guard Achievement Medal.
